“Like a dream come true...”

“As far back I as can remember, vineyards and wine making have been part of my life. Growing up in Sicily, my family was always involved in grape growing. After many years of home wine making, a trip to California wine country, was what inspired me to have to my own vineyard and winery. Now, Turdo Vineyards is like a dream come true...” — Salvatore Turdo

In 1998, Sal Turdo set out with a vision. Since then, his winery has welcomed thousands of visitors. He believes that you have to prove yourself every year with every vintage. Sal has been doing so since his first vintage of Turis wines was released in 2002. Establishing Turdo Vineyards as one of New Jersey’s most distinctive wineries. The vineyard and winery is known for producing many varieties of wines not easily found on this side of the Atlantic.

Sal’s Italian varieties are rapidly increasing in popularity and demand. Most of Sal’s Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto varieties are sold even before the wine is bottled. But the Nero D’Avola is what Turdo Vineyard’s is known for. This exquisite Sicilian variety is one of Italy’s most renowned, and Sal’s personal favorite.  But, this variety isn’t easy to find. In fact, Turdo Vineyards is one of only a few growers and producers of this variety in North America!!!
